Online Training for Legal Support Staff

COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS FOR ONLINE TRAINING:

  • Internet Connection (high speed recommended)
    If you are using a dial-up/modem connection you may not be able to attend online training. Each training module consist of a large file download which a dial-up/modem connection may not be able to handle.
  • Adobe Flash Plugin. If not installed, you can download a free copy from www.adobe.com. Online Training can not be accomplished if Adobe Flash is not installed.
  • Functional Computer Speakers

Legal Support staff is encouraged to also attend the same type of training Attorneys are obligated to attend to ensure the knowledge of our CM/ECF System.

The only difference in training between Attorneys and Legal Support staff is that Attorneys get a CM/ECF login and password upon completion of training, legal support staff does not. With a valid CM/ECF login and password attorneys are able to electronically file Civil and Criminal cases in the Central District of California.

To begin Online Training, please choose any of the modules below.

Attorneys must complete training using the authentication box in the previous screen. If you are an attorney you should not be in this page. Please return to the authentication screen to be credited with training completion. This page does not credit your completion of training.

Overview to Computer Based Training (CBT) – Not required (approx. 5 minutes)
Module 1 – Introduction to CM/ECF (approx. 8 minutes)
Module 2 – Logging in and out of CM/ECF (approx. 11 minutes)
Module 3 – Proof of Service Summons and Complaint (approx. 32 minutes)
Module 4 – Notice of Manual Filing (approx. 15 minutes)
Module 5 – Stipulation Extending Time to Answer (approx. 14 minutes)
Module 6 – Answer to Complaint (approx. 12 minutes)
Module 7 – Motion for Summary Judment, Partial Summary Judment with Proposed Order and Declaration in Support. (approx. 25 minutes)
Module 8 – Declaration (Motion Related) (approx. 15 minutes)
