Hardware/Software Requirements for E-Filing

The following hardware and software requirements are needed to electronically file documents in the Central District of California:

  • Personal Computer (PC clone or Apple Macintosh are sufficient)
  • Operating System: Windows 2000 or XP (Vista not yet supported), or Macintosh (OS 9 or higher)
  • Internet connection (Broadband recommended)
  • Internet browser including: Internet Explorer (version 6.0 or higher), Mozilla Firefox (version 1.5 or higher). (Netscape Navigator browser (any version) is not supported)
  • PDF Converted Software such as Adobe Acrobat (Version 5.0 or higher)
  • Word Processor such as WordPerfect or Microsoft Word (Microsoft Word 2007 Documents with the extension DOCX are not supported.  Please read instructions on how to properly save Microsoft Word 2007 Documents)
  • Scanner for imaging documents (any scanner capable of converting images to PDF format.  Recommended resolution should be between 200-300 dpi for smaller file size)
  • E-Mail account (any provider)
  • PACER log-in and password
